Small Town On Water, 2009. (Oil on canvas, 61x61cm)
This is one of the first "town" paintings I did since coming to Brisbane. Moving my life from one continent to another was hard enough, but continuing my work was even tougher. The city I got to was new in every sense, new to me but also new and young as a settlement. My previous town paintings were dreamscapes of the old towns of Croatian coast I have spent my childhood and early adulthood at. This painting is still pulling inspiration from those places but I believe the lights and colors of Australia are a part of this painting as they started becoming a part of me too.
